Baltimore City Public Schools, Patterson High School Feasibility Study

As part of an on-call contract, Henry Adams performed a feasibility study for the 310,000 SF Patterson High School for Baltimore City Public Schools.

The study was completed in the following phases: Operational Assessment, Education Adequacy, School Ed Specs, and Feasibility Study Development.

Henry Adams provided 12 energy models for system performance comparisons that were evaluated with the Life Cycle Cost Analysis (LCCA) in accordance with the Department of General Services as agreed by the Interagency Committee (IAC).

For the feasibility study development phase, Henry Adams provided the required information for the feasibility study in accordance with the PSCP IAC Administrative Procedures Guide, Section 203 “Feasibility Studies." The feasibility study focused on three modernization approaches. Henry Adams performed an Energy Star type Performance Analysis for the three proposed modernizations utilizing an 8,760-hour energy modeling program.

Henry Adams' scope included:  mechanical (HVAC and associated building controls), electrical (power, emergency power, lighting, and site lighting), and plumbing.

Each proposed modernization was modeled with three HVAC system alternatives.  Henry Adams provided three additional energy models for targeted energy reduction components for evaluation. The energy model results were evaluated through a 40-year LCCA. Henry Adams provided HVAC system recommendations for the three proposed modernizations. Henry Adams' energy models included the recommended plumbing system components as directed the plumbing engineering consultant.
