Prince George's Community College, Center for Performing Arts
Henry Adams provided MEP engineering services for the design for the $88M, 173,000 SF Queen Anne Academic Center at Prince George's Community College (PGCC).
This project renovated 38,000 GSF of space and added 135,000 GSF of space to the existing Queen Anne Fine Arts Center. The design replaced deteriorated building infrastructure component and corrected issues to meet current Americans with Disabilities Act (ADA) code requirements, modernized finishes and equipment, provided spaces for a new Dance major in the Theatre curriculum, and significantly expanded spaces to improve, and transform the curriculums of Music, Theatre, Speech, and Television, Radio, and Film on campus. Beyond standard offices and classrooms the Queen Anne Academic Center features an 800-seat theatre, a 250-seat proscenium theatre, a 200-seat black box studio, instructional theater and educational technology (TET) labs, flexible performance and instructional spaces, radio, television and film broadcast and production labs, a 125-seat recital hall, music band and rehearsal space, dance studios, and an art gallery.
PGCC has established a requirement of LEED Gold certification for this project.
