Located on Andrews Air Force Base, these projects included the demolition of two existing Bachelor’s Enlisted Quarters and the construction of a new, 43,000 SF, 60-unit, 3 story brick and reinforced concrete apartment building for the Navy bachelor enlisted personnel. The Bachelor’s Enlisted Quarters is based on the Navy’s newly developed 1 + 1 Room Module which provides private bedrooms for each person with shared kitchen, bathroom, and laundry facilities. This project included challenging provisions for recently issued anti-terrorism/force protection design criteria that included reinforced concrete construction. The team also proceeded with design to meet LEED certification.
