Henry Adams provided the electrical engineering services for an arc flash analysis covering the entire Virginia School for the Deaf & Blind campus, comprised of 21 buildings, totaling 453,000 SF. This project is a testament to our ability to work via long distances as the VSDB campus was located in Staunton, VA, more than three hours away from Henry Adams' Baltimore office.

The electrical system was surveyed to identify the applicable electrical components and configurations necessary to perform short circuit study, coordination study, and incident energy study. Surveys were performed to identify all applicable electrical component locations.

Based on the results of the incident energy study, Henry Adams produced and installed a warning label or danger label for each piece of equipment. All labels were designed to be readable in both indoor and outdoor environments and contain arc hazard boundary, working distance, arc flash incident energy, PPE category and description, voltage rating of the equipment, limited approach distance, and restricted and prohibited approach distance.
